Documents

What documents do I need?
Everyone needs ID, Social Security cards for everyone on the return, and bank info for direct deposit. The rest depends on your situation: W-2s, 1099s, a 1098-T, childcare receipts, and so on. Use the document list builder to get a list for your year.
How do I send my documents?
After your consultation we'll send you a JotForm link to upload your documents. You can also email them to info@wilderpowertaxes.com.
How should I organize everything?
Group by type: income (W-2s, 1099s), deductions (receipts and statements), education (1098-T), and dependents. Clear photos or PDFs both work.

Pricing & payment

How much does it cost?
Most W-2 returns start at $99. 1099 and freelance returns start at $149. Schedule C business returns are quoted based on complexity. You get the price before we start.
Do I have to pay upfront?
No. Fees can be deducted from your refund. We'll go over how that works during your consultation.

Refunds & the advance

How fast will I get my refund?
With e-file and direct deposit, the IRS issues most refunds within 21 days of accepting the return. State timing varies.
Why might my refund be held until late February?
By law, the IRS can't release refunds that include the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit before mid-February. That applies to everyone who claims those credits, no matter who prepares the return. The refund advance can help bridge that wait.
How does the refund advance work?
Qualified filers can apply for an advance of up to $7,000 starting January 2. There's no credit check. A participating bank approves the advance and sets the amount, and it's paid back out of your refund. You have to file your return with Wilder Power to apply.
Can you help with past-year or amended returns?
Yes. We file prior-year returns and amendments (Form 1040-X).

Referral bonus

How does the $100 parent referral work?
Refer a parent or guardian who claims dependent children. When they file with Wilder Power, you get $100. You don't have to be a client, and there's no limit on referrals.
Who counts as a qualified referral?
A parent or guardian claiming at least one dependent child on their return, who files with Wilder Power.
